PERSONALITY:

Lion-O is brave, marching into danger for others, for his friends, for innocents, and even for those who have done him wrong. He faces his fears, these days, having seen what not doing so brings.

He believes in people, but he also knows that people can betray you and do wrong and chose to do wrong. He has had a lot of examples of that in his life. From the general who sold out Thundera City, to Mumm-Ra, from Pumyra to the Lizard Men who helped Mumm-ra attack his city, he has known betrayals and bad actors, and he knows they exist, so while he chooses to be optimistic, he also knows that there are those who bring darkness.

He also has been known to be hotheaded, letting anger, pride, and fear lead him into situations he should have avoided, and into situations he could have seen coming, had he stayed calm and clear-headed.

He has a tendency to need to fight this, and it sometimes worries him how easy it is for him to lose control and charge in, recklessly.

He is also arrogant, which leads him sometimes to make mistakes, and to assume he knows things, even when the truth is completely different. He tries not to let this control him, but he is still young, and the urge to assume he knows what is going on is strong. Even when it gets him into trouble.

However, he can also be kind, giving of himself to help others, stepping up to take responsibility to make sure justice happens, and standing up for those who do not have a voice, or whose voice is not being listened to. He believes in equality and justice, even when the people he is wanting it for are enemies.

He likes to give, and to take care of others, to protect them, and this can make him overprotective. He can overreact when those he cares about or sees as his responsibility are hurt or in danger, and this can make him a little bit of a loose cannon at times, pushing to take care of others, even when this is not really something that he needs to do. He knows that he needs to accept things as they are, but that does not always come easy.

Lion-O is also easily embarrassed, being still very naive, especially about human things, and sexual things. Though he has been introduced to them he is still new and very unsure of them. And he knows he has a lot to learn, which bruises his pride and arrogance some, making him one to blush, and to stammer, and to have some uncertainty.

He has had many complex relationships.

His relationship with his brother, Tygra, has only recently been one of trust and kindness. Before, both were jealous of the other, and found themselves coming very nearly to serious blows a few times. The two of them are new to their understanding, and it is a wound that is not fully healed.

His father, King Claudus, represented a level of responsibility and nagging and a lack of understanding in both directions. this man's death and learning so much about what had been going on in his life, taught Lion-O that he needed to learn to communicate more. And then he had to figure out how to do that.

Oddly enough, it was two people who helped him with that. The first was Cheetara, a priestess, who he first had a crush on. And who sometimes seemed to return those feelings. But when it was revealed that she liked his brother, he felt betrayed, and resentful. it would only be later that he would understand that they had, neither of them, communicated what they wanted to each other, and this had been what led to the misunderstanding between them. They made peace, and she came to help him accept his feelings for others, in time.

The second person to help him understand was WilyKit, a younger Thundercat who assumed Cheetara's place as a priestess, helping Lion-O in times when he needed good counsel and providing him with real and honest communication, which he then used as an example on how to communicate with others.

One who he had even more complicated feelings about was Pumyra. She was someone who at first hated him, and resented he and his people for not stay9ingin Thundera City. In time, she became a woman who he came to love, and she seemed to return his feelings, before it was revealed that she was actually a servant of Mumm-Ra and betrayed Lion-O and his people, telling him she would kill him.

The shock of it hurt him badly, and from love to despair he slammed, suddenly and brutally. Without his friends around him, he would have lost it completely then, and he had to pull together with no time to react. This wound is one that is not healed and will take some time to heal.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Lion-O is slightly more agile, stronger, faster, and more dextrous than a human being. He can leap farther and is skilled at sword fighting, now, though he does still have a lot to learn.

SAMPLES Narrative

Lion-O was very thirsty.

He'd been wandering, seeking an adventure, and somehow found himself in the outskirts of Lunatia, without meaning to go there. Not that he had a destination planned, anyway. Coming through a section of buildings, and to a section of crystals and neon-colored trees, he smiled, slowing as he admired the structures.

It was like nothing he had ever seen. This world had a lot of that for him. Crystals, humans, sex to create power, and so much more. He was not sure if he was truly here, most days, or dreaming, or perhaps lost in the Book of Omens somehow. Why the book would show him this, he had no idea, but still...

Lion-O sighed. This was all just another example of how he had not been prepared for life outside Thundera City. He had always assumed he would live and die there, either forced to take the crown, or finding a way out of it and being an advisor and a scientist, but either way, that he would be there. Instead, his city had fallen, a mythical evil had arisen, his father had been killed, and he had become king of a lost world. It had been a rough year as they trekked onward looking for what they needed to turn back their enemy, Mumm-ra, a being who had scared Lion-O more times and more ways than he knew how to admit.

Along the way, he had been forced to grow up, and now, here in this other world, he was being forced to do so even more. It had been a year of amazement, and a year of ups and downs. He had managed to grow a lot, he felt, but he had also discovered many things that had hurt, a lot, and the most recent ones had been the worst. Pumyra. He had loved her, and he had come to trust her, and in the end, had found out she was nothing more than a servant of Mumm-ra, and with her betrayal, he and his people, along with innocents, had almost died. He was not sure, even now, he was recovered from that. The shock of her betrayal still stung in his heart and head, and his uncertainty had led him to try to avoid the requirements of this world. He sighed and shook his head.

As he thought all of that, he kept going, but slower, and was startled as he came through the trees and crystals to find an oasis.

With a grateful groan, he charged ahead and slid to his knees at the edge of the oasis, dipping his hands into the water and lifting it to his mouth, drinking deeply. Only afterward did he realize it could have been poisoned. With a sigh, he shook his head. He still had a lot to learn.

Glancing around, he could see not a sign of fruits of other food, and so he dug out the last of his granola bars and sandwiches that he had brought with him. He heard, as he did so, a sound that was like a whickering, and he looked up, and his eyes went wide. An equine, a being he had never seen before, appeared through the plants of the oasis, with a mighty horn on its head. it was beautiful.

"Wow! Where did you come from? You are beautiful."

Ignoring his words, the being moved closer warily, eyes on his food and he groaned as he looked down at it, but the being looked a little rough and a lot hungry. As he watched it, he remembered a story he had been told, with pictures a little like this being, a unicorn, he thought they had called it. A being who was good luck, but also could grant immortality if it was eaten. As if he would ever do such a thing. The very idea had him shuddering in disgust. Not that this being had any way of knowing that.

No wonder it was slow to approach. Others probably hunted it. Lion-O hated that, and how people sometimes were so base. Still, looking at how the unicorn looked and sounded, he nodded.

"You're here without food, too, huh?" Lion-O sighed. He could not look on another so hungry and so he nodded.

With a groan, he raised his sandwich toward the unicorn. It did not hesitate at that, but grabbed his sandwich and gulped it down, crunching it and swallowing it swiftly, and then looking at him with luminous eyes that swirled and made him feel like he could get lost in them. It... no, they, for they were not an 'it', he was sure, now. They still looked hungry and he raised the last of the granola bars too, holding them out, and the unicorn slowly ate them, watching him all the time.

When they were done, they moved closer, and nudged him with their nose and he laughed a little, gently and slowly raising a hand to stroke their cheek and side.

"You're welcome, friend. Maybe someday you can help another."

He rose. "IN the meantime, I need to go find some food."

The unicorn cocked their head to the side, considering him, then knelt next to him in a move that was somehow both insistent and yet graceful. They made that whinnying-whickering sound again and nudged him, then tossed their head toward their back, te bright eyes on his.

Lion-O stared, shocked. "You want me to ride you?" He had not even thought of that but with trembling legs, he rose and moved to their side, then slowly slid one leg over their back.

With a graceful movement that held power in it, yet did not somehow unseat him, the unicorn rose, and made that noise again, glancing back at him with a glint that almost looked like it was amused, and then... it took off.

He could call it nothing else. From a standing stop, it was suddenly moving faster than any animal he had ever seen move, even than some technologies he had seen. The body beneath him seemed to move with muscles that were strong, and yet also powerful in other ways and no matter how fast they moved, he was never tossed or discomfited. The scenery flew past in a daze and he held on, hands tangled in their mane without realizing he had done that, or when. The feeling was like nothing he had ever known, and it felt almost like Chroma was passing to him. He was exhilarated and shouted for joy.

Only to realize, as he did so, that they had stopped, suddenly, at the front of his rooms. He had no clue how they had gotten here, or when, but he flushed and as the unicorn once more knelt, he slipped off, then after a brief hesitation, hugged the powerful being.

"Thank you, my friend. If you ever have a need that I can grant, please come to me. Or call me. Lion-O of the Thundercats will come. That I promise."

With a snorting sound, the unicorn once more rose, and then turned, and, as swiftly as they had entered his life, they were gone.

Staring after the being, Lion-O was opened mouthed and stunned. What had just happened? He was not sure how long he stood so, a silly grin slowly forming on his face, but his stomach eventually grumbled at him, and laying, he went inside.

He had had enough adventure for one day and he wanted to rest.

But he did not stop smiling for a very long time.
